You know, once you start noticing odd logic in special offers, you notice them everywhere. I’m collecting all the ones I find with the aim of creating a numeracy/ mental arithmetic/ problem solving board. I hope it will start some good discussions – especially if I throw in some good value offers too.

This has to be seen to be believed.

If you browse the Museum of Maths website, you’ll find so many great ideas – many by George Hart (co-founder of MoMath & Vi Hart’s dad). The posts were originally part of a collaboration between the ‘Make’ magazine website and MoMaths. The archive of projects and new posts are now available from the MoMath site.
I’ll bet you’re thinking about how to get one …

The main thing that caught my attention was how the infographic is constructed and how it could be used for other tasks. It’s made using Grafio. The app is available as a lite (free) version or a paid business version (£5.99 at the time of posting). Not available on Android devices.

Romanesco Broccoli (Roman Cauliflower): mathematical art in a vegetable.
You can link the naturally occuring spirals to Fibonacci numbers in a similar way to the classic pine cone spirals.
Makes good cauliflower cheese too!
